New Jumpstart Training Disc Focuses on Warranties and Remakes
Global Optics, in cooperation with Innereactive Media of Ada, Mich., recently released disc five of the Jumpstart training series, “Jumpstart 5: Warranties and Remakes.”

Jumpstart 5 is designed to show eyecare professionals how poor warranty and remake policies can be damaging to a practice. Training topics include detailed information on the evolution of warranties, how to prevent remakes, tips to establishing effective policies and presentation techniques.

One of most valuable features of Jumpstart 5 is a “cost of remakes” calculator. ECPs can enter their individual overhead cost, practice statistics and more into the calculator to receive an accurate computation of how much remakes and warranties cost their practice. A printout helps ECPs identify profit leaks due to poor policies. The training on the disc helps them to create effective policies to combat these losses.

Jumpstart 5 is not specific to one lens manufacturer and provides experienced optical professionals with insightful information on how to guide a patient to the best frame selection for their prescription.

The Jumpstart training series solves many of the problems associated with staff turnover, education on emerging lens technologies and presentation techniques. Each disc of the Jumpstart training series includes interactive quizzes after each section of training. In addition, upon the completion of the comprehensive examination, Jumpstart provides a detailed print-out of the participant’s results. If a score of 80 percent or greater is achieved, the participant will also receive a certificate of achievement that may be printed. Each disc of the Jumpstart training series is approved by the American Board of Opticianry for four hours of continuing education credits, or 20 CE hours for the completion of all five discs.

The Jumpstart training series is distributed exclusively by the following independent labs members of Global Optics: Cherry Optical, CVO, Dietz Laboratories, e.magine Optical, Encore Optics, Expert Optics, Harbor Optical, Hirsch Optical Corporation, Icare Labs, Katz & Klein, Lenco, LensTech, Professional Ophthalmic Labs, QC Optical, RD Cherry Optical, Inc., Rite Style Optical, Rooney Optical, SEOCO, Soderberg Optical, Sunburst Optics, Toledo Optical and Walman Optical.

Lab Italee to Offer Shamir Autograph Lenses
Lab Italee has been named by Shamir Insight as the latest Shamir Autograph partner lab. The Los Angeles-based wholesaler joins the 11 other U.S. labs that produce Shamir Autograph, a line of “Freeform”-designed progressives lenses. The lenses are made with a proprietary Shamir technology that allows both the Rx and design to be ground on the back-side of the lens, enabling each lens to be created with an accuracy of up to 1/100 diopters. With six different designs, each patient is ensured Autograph lenses personalized to their specific lifestyle needs, and by grinding the design on the back-surface, patients receive up to 20 percent wider fields-of-vision, according to Shamir.

“Our Lab Launch team worked closely with Italee’s team to prepare for the Autograph launch by providing the educational background, support and collateral needed for a prosperous launch,” says Hilaire van der Veen, director of Shamir Insight. “As a distributor of high-end fashion frames, Italee is well aware of the importance of providing patients with a high-quality product like Shamir Autograph. We look forward to a successful relationship with Italee Optics.”

Shamir Autograph lenses can be further fine-tuned for each patient with “As-Worn Technology” and “FreeFrame Technology,” which enable additional measurements and frame selection to be factored into the lens design.
